One of my coaching clients started to condense and revamp his websites this week. Over time, he had developed multiple sites designed to achieve overlapping goals. His sites weren’t bad or wrong, but the idea to simplify and condense them came up early in our coaching sessions as we discussed his identity.
Who are you?
As an author, you are a small business – you are your brand. Not your new book. Not your latest book. Just, you – the foundation of your author platform. Your website is the central hub of this platform. All of your marketing efforts flow in and out of your website
Don’t over think it.
Your website content depends on your goals. I know some have spent thousands to develop an e-commerce site and others who’ve relied on their Facebook business page (although I don’t recommend this). It doesn’t need to be complicated or expensive, so don’t over think it.
Every site should contain the basics:
- Homepage with contact and social media icons
- Book page
- Blog
- About me page
- Contact page
Trusts the professionals
If you’re unsure of where to start, use a professional website developer. Your needs are you unique, so using a trusted agency like 1106Designs who provide affordable, customized author-specific websites is a great idea (plus, they’re really nice).
If you’re struggling with building or growing your author platform, I’d love to help. Please feel free to email me or click on the appointment link on the right to set up a day and time to talk.
As always, I am blessed to be blessing. Thanks for reading!
